A village house in Flanders
No.4 Lange Ast is a timber holiday home for eight, right in the middle of the village of Huise. Not a remote spot in the countryside, but a house in the heart of the village. You stay among everyday village life: the church square, walkers and cyclists passing by, the rhythm of the day. Ghent is twenty minutes away. The Flemish Ardennes start at the front door. Three bedrooms, a Japandi interior in CLT timber, and outside a sauna and a wood-fired hot tub.
The house
No.4 Lange Ast was built in 2025 in CLT, solid cross-laminated timber. Inside it stays warm and quiet: a spacious living room with a wood stove, underfloor heating, and three bedrooms each with an ensuite shower. The kitchen is fully equipped, with an oven, dishwasher and a large fridge, plus a washing machine and dryer. In the living room stands The Rope, an artwork by Ief Spincemaille that you can tension and use as a bench.
Village life
You are right in the middle of Huise, a real Flemish village in Kruisem. A church square, a cafe, a football club and a youth club. Life here simply carries on. Ghent is twenty minutes away by car, and you reach the Flemish Ardennes on the bike.
Sauna and hot tub
On the terrace you will find a wood-burning sauna and a wood-fired hot tub. Count on about an hour to heat the sauna and an hour and a half for the hot tub. Cycling? The bike store has lighting, a charging point and a Karcher to hose down your bike.
Pool
The heated pool sits higher up on the grounds and is shared with us, the owners. It is open
from 2 to 8 pm and heated to 29 degrees from mid May to the end of September.
Our dog Charly sometimes wanders here. If you want to swim, we put him aside for a while.
